About Me

Hi and thanks for visiting! I’ve decided to write about my experience in joining the Army Reserves and, hopefully, continue through while I’m in the Reserves. I’m hoping this will help answer questions some people may have, spark discussions and maybe just interest a few people.

A little about me: I’m currently a 27-year-old single mom of a beautiful boy. He’s 16 months right now (as of September 2010) and growing fast. We’ve live in my parent’s basement since I divorced his father a year ago. I grew up on a farm in Southern Maryland and have lived here most of my life, except a few years where I went to college and lived in FL and PA. Currently I’m working as a private tutor and substitute teacher, as well as a stay at home mom.

I’m lucky enough to have a wonderful son (Avery), helpful parents and a wonderfully supportive boyfriend (John).

I’m writing this blog for lots of reasons: therapy, creative outlet and  hoping that it helps other single parents, women, and just anyone who’s thinking of joining the military.  I’ll write my struggles with leaving my son, my wonderful boyfriend and family, the hoops I have to jump through to get to Basic, and any tips or ideas I’ve come across that might help others.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you come along with me on my journey.
